In 1961, brothers, Larry Griffin Sr and Ronnie Griffin, purchased Honest Recapping from an uncle. The original location was where I-77 crosses Trade St.. Soon after, the company was renamed Griffin Brothers Tire Sales and was moved to the more well known location on W. Trade Street. In 1978, they expanded with the opening of a store on Albamarle Rd.
In the Early 1980's, with both brothers' families growing, they decided to part ways. Larry kept the Trade St location and the name, and Ronnie renamed the Albamarle Rd location Griffin Tire.
Throughout the 1980's two more Griffin Tire locations were opened including the store at 4600 Brookshire Blvd in 1989.
In the mid 90's Ronnie retired from the business, leaving his son Clay to continue the fast, friendly service that customers had come to expect from Griffin Tire & Auto Your Neigborhood Tire Pros.
With the opening of new locations in October 2010, and May of 2011, Griffin Tire & Auto Your Neigborhood Tire Pros looks to offer the same great service and convenience that folks have come to expect.
